Below are summaries of the Local Plan process for each authority. Click on the authority name to link to the council website. There are also links to meeting updates and local election results.

ADUR AND WORTHING

Current Stage

The Council published its Proposed Submission Local Plan in 2014 and the Council originally intended to submit the Plan to the Secretary of State in March 2015. However, due to some proposed changes to one of the strategic allocations in the Plan, the Council had to adjust its timetable and published a revised version called ‘Amendments to the Proposed Adur Local Plan 2016’.

Next Stage

It will be necessary for Adur & Worthing to propose minor modifications to the Local Plan, to update relevant references and to update relevant parts of supporting documents which refer to the OAN and housing shortfall. For these reasons, and the need to update the OAN work, the submission date for the Local Plan has been revised from July 2016 to late September 2016.

Intended Adoption Date

The Council intends to adopt the Plan in early 2017.

ARUN

Current Stage

Arun Local Plan 2011-2031 was published in October 2014 and on Thursday 14th January 2016 the Objectively Assessed Needs (OAN) hearing took place.

Next Stage

On 1 Sept 2016, a report will be taken to the Local Plan Sub-Committee which provides an update on the progress of evidence base studies which have been commissioned to support the preparation of main modifications to the Arun Local Plan (2011-2031) Publication Version.

ASHFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL

Current Stage

During 2014 and early 2015 the Council engaged with Parish Councils and Community Forums to find out views of local residents on potential sites in their area.

Public Consultation on the Regulation 19 (draft) version of the Local Plan 2030 ran between the 15 June and 10 August 2016. The consultation is now closed and the results were published on 14 September 2016

Next Stage

The Council expects to submit the Plan to the Secretary of State in September 2016, and the independent examination hearing is expected in December 2016. After that the Council hopes to receive the Inspector’s Final Report in March 2017.

Intended Adoption Date

The Council is hoping to adopt the Local plan in April 2017.

AYLESBURY VALE

Current Stage

The consultation period ran for over eight weeks, from 7 July to 5 September 2016.

Next Stage

The proposed submission consultation will begin in early 2017 and the submission of the plan will be submitted in March 2017. Examination of the plan will commence in spring 2017 with an expected adoption sometime summer 2017.

Intended Adoption Date

The Council hopes to adopt the new Local Plan in the summer of 2017.
